Yannik BehrGeophysicist
Biography
Yannik’s research interest is in combining physics-based and statistical models and detecting anomalies in observational data using machine learning. He applies these interests to his work on seismic and volcano monitoring.
Project role
In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, Yannik is leading the Bayesian Network implementation to generate probabilistic forecasts of hazard occurrence and risk exposure. The forecasts will be updated automatically to include the latest information from anatomy models, monitoring data, expert judgement and Mātauranga Māori.
