Ben award

Congratulations to Prof. Ben Kennedy who has won the 2023 Te Puiaki Whakapā Pūtaiao Science Communication Prize.

Ben is a volcanologist, Professor at the University of Canterbury’s School of Earth and Environment, and a prolific science communicator. He is a member of the Raranga Whāriki Papa Moana | Beneath The Waves research team, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved award.

Ben's ideas for science communication have been reinvented, researched, and tested over many years. He and  his team now use many inclusive methods, such as art and storytelling, games and puzzles, and virtual fieldtrips.
