Biography
Cornel has participated in over 30 deep sea expeditions to research the deep-sea, including surveying and studying active submarine volcanoes and their seafloor hot springs using surface ships, remotely operated vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, and manned submersibles. He recently transferred technologies used in deep-sea research to map volcanic lakes of New Zealand.
Project role
In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, Cornel is leading the bathymetric and hydrothermal discharge surveys and their interpretation and integrating data into unified models of volcano anatomy.
