Gert LubeVolcanologist
Biography
Gert’s research combines large-scale and laboratory experiments, and analytical and numerical modelling, to study the transport, erosion and deposition/sedimentation processes of volcanic and non-volcanic magma ascent, mass flows, granular media and volcanic explosions.
Project role
In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, Gert is leading the large-scale simulation of pyroclastic density current (PDC)-generated tsunami and supervise students, building on an extensive track record of fundamental discoveries using Pyroclastic flow Eruption Large-scale Experiment (PELE), volcanic-sourced tsunami simulators.
