Biography

Victoria’s research is focused on natural hazards and the applied use of scientific knowledge to facilitate effective decision making in order to reduce loss of life and detrimental impacts. Victoria takes an end-to-end approach for disaster risk reduction strategies; her interests span from applying geophysical techniques to better understand and monitor volcanoes, hazard and risk modelling for volcanic, earthquake and tsunami hazard, risk assessment and risk management techniques.

Project role

In the ‘Beneath the Waves’ research programme, Victoria is helping to ensure that we maximise the benefit and value of the resulting scientific understanding by ensuring that the outputs will translate into useful and usable tools and products that are indeed used to reduce the risk from volcanic islands. Victoria is looking forward to engaging with end-users of the information to learn more about their needs, how they can use the scientific outputs and how we can promote the use of this information for risk reduction through incorporation of their feedback into the programme.
